Marian Clayden (1937-2015) was an artist and skilled craftsman who became internationally acclaimed for her dramatic textiles and elegant high-fashion garments. Born in Preston, Lancashire, she moved to Los Gatos, California, with her husband and children in 1967. She was commissioned to produce backdrops and costumes for the rock musical 'Hair'. She also collaborated with Bob Mackie and Cecil Beaton, who used her fabrics. In 1976, she began producing her own clothes for sale using her unique textiles, and this lot represents an early example. Her work is held in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum, New York, De Young in San Francisco, Victoria & Albert, London and Los Angeles County.

Good condition overall, some discolouration at underarms but not hugely noticeable due to the tie-dye patterning - see pics
