unlabelled, of thigh-high cream patent leather, with hand-painted black graffiti decoration with words including 'Rock n Roll Trip', 'Cleopatra', and 'Tutankhamun', heel height 13cm 5.25in, sole length 33cm 13in (2)
Provenance: Originally in the collection of the late Pete Burns, who acquired the boots from Stephen Sprouse. Legend has it that Sprouse made these over one wild weekend for Debbie Harry to wear. We believe them to be unique.
"Stephen had great intuition. He was really psychic and I think he probably saw that I was exploring and trying out a lot of different looks and needed help. He took me in hand and helped put the polish on...He made me feel very confident and beautiful and I completely trusted him. There was never a doubt in my mind."
- Debbie Harry quoted in Roger and Mauricio Padilha, The Stephen Sprouse Book, New York, Rizzoli, 2009, n.p.
These were exhibited at: J.F. Chen C-Project, Los Angeles, 'Collision', 2019
