Harmon Knitwear labelled, with red patent curl detail, bust approx 86cm 34in; and a pair of modern fishnet stockings with vinyl appliques (3)
Rudi Gernreich was renowned for his unstructured, form fitting swimwear from the 1950s and won numerous awards for them. He eschewed wired breast cups and harsh underpinnings, letting the knitted fabric simply follow the curves of the body. This striking example appliqued with a vinyl curlicue was provocatively styled by Peggy - worn with red fishnet tights and suspenders.
