Most of the dress names were the invention of Peggy Moffitt rather than Rudi Gernreich - others including the 'Ringo' suit inspired by the famous Beatles drummer, or the Van Dongen ensembles, inspired by the colour palette of the Dutch/French artist Kees van Dongen. Peggy probably acquired this dress from the Beverly Hills boutique Jax in the 1950s where she worked as a Saturday girl, although it is unlabelled.
